Rockland County Welcomes Two New K9 Team Graduates

By M.C. Millman

A Ramapo police officer and an officer from the Suffern police department completed the special K9 training offered by the Orange County Sheriff's Office K-9 Academy. Officer Joseph A. Ingui & K-9 Thorn from the Village of Suffern Police Department and Officer Michael P. McRory & K-9 Ryder from the Town of Ramapo Police Department bring the total of Ramapo Police Department K9 teams to three.

Assistant Undersheriff Anthony Weed addressed the grads of K-9 Patrol School Class #30 and the audience, saying, " We choose officers and K-9s that show good character, high drive, loyalty, discipline, honorable, and trainable and then give them the skills to do the job they have chosen to do".

As family, friends, and co-workers watched the impressive display of ability from each handler and their K-9 partner, it was apparent the amount of training and dedication it takes to be a part of any K-9 Unit is tremendous and continuous.
