Rockland Marks Gimel Tamuz With Communal Farbrengen

By M. C. Millman
Sunday, July 3, was a celebration of achdus and memorialization as seventeen of Rockland’s Lubavitch Centers hosted a joint Gimmel Tammuz Farbrengen for their kehillos. The farbrengen suedah took place at Valley Terrace in Suffern.
Rabbi Shalom Paltiel, Chabad of Port Washington, addressed the assembled, as did Rabbi Chaim Schabes, Rav of Knesses Yisroel.
Gimel Tamuz is a day of celebration marking the beginning of the freedom of the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Friedicker Rebbe zt’l. On Gimmel Tammuz, 5686/1927, the previous Lubavitch Rebbe’s death sentence was rescinded, and he was sent into exile.
The day also commemorates the yahrzeit of the recent Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson zt”l.
