Polio Clinic Offers Vaccines Today

Polio Clinic Offers Vaccines Today

In response to last week's case of a single Rockland County resident with polio who developed symptoms of weakness and paralysis a month ago, the Rockland County Department of Health is offering its second polio vaccination clinic at 50 Sanatorium Road Building A in Pomona today from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Anyone unvaccinated, including those who are expecting, those who have not completed their polio vaccine series, or those who are concerned they might have been exposed, should get vaccinated. Individuals who are already vaccinated but are at risk of exposure should receive a booster, which will also be available at the clinics.

Rockland County residents can pre-register for a free appointment by walking in or pre-registering by calling 845-238-1956.

Polio vaccines are also available through local healthcare providers, including Federally Qualified Health Centers. Anyone concerned about their vaccination status is encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or RCDOH to determine if they need a polio vaccine.
