High-Speed Chase Leads to Driver's Arrest at Gunpoint
By Rockland Daily Staff
A routine traffic stop last night on Seven Lakes Drive in Sloatsburg quickly escalated when the driver fled, leading police on a high-speed chase while traversing Rockland County highways and roads.
Officers made a second attempt to stop the vehicle on Route 59 in Spring Valley. At that point, a Rockland County sheriffs officer narrowly avoided being deliberately run down by the driver.
After that, the chase continued, reaching dangerous speeds of up to 100 mph.
New York State Police joined the pursuit, and the suspect was finally apprehended in Spring Valley at 500 East Funston Avenue, where the driver was taken into custody at gunpoint.
