Chaverim of Rockland Holds Annual Appreciation Members Event

by M.C. Millman

Chaverim of Rockland held its annual appreciation event for the members on Thursday night, February 16, at Vilchovitz Hall in Spring Valley.

Besides for being a night out for Chaverim's volunteers, dispatchers, and spouses, the evening was well attended by local electeds, including Congressman Mike Lawler. Law enforcement was also out in full force, with the sheriff and department members attending along with the entire brass of the Ramapo Police and Spring Valley Police Department.

The evening included a game show and a ceremony awarding certificates to those volunteers who took the most calls over the course of 2022, a year that boasted a record-breaking 44,696 calls.

"Chaverim of Rockland is a cornerstone of our community," Legislator Aron Wieder shares with Rockland Daily. "On Thursday, I was privileged to honor Chaverim volunteer Shloime Spira who took part in rescuing the boy who had fallen through the ice on Lake Suzane. Shloime's heroic actions reflect the work Chaverim members do daily, which too often goes unnoticed. It's incredibly meaningful to see that all of Chaverim's members are able to receive the appreciation an event like this awards them with for the daily heroism they display through being Chaverim volunteers."
