Village of Spring Valley Completes $1 Million Federal Road Project

by M.C. Millman

The Village of Spring Valley has completed the $1 million federal project from the CHIPS for America Fund, which has been used to repave numerous streets within the Village.

Spring Valley's Department of Public Works was heavily involved in the project. At their recommendation,  the Village was divided into four sections, with an equal amount of streets being repaved within each section. As a result, each area received equal repaving coverage over the course of the last few years.

The Village's goal was to do each paving project during times that would least impact traffic. For example, Maple Avenue and West Street were scheduled to be repaved on Yom Kippur when the roads would see the least use. Heavy rain impacted these plans, though, and the paving had to be postponed. Other Yomim Tovim this year also fell out on Shabbos and Sunday, so the roads could not be paved then either, despite those days being ideal for such projects.

"We are so pleased that this funding has been used to benefit the Village of Spring Valley's residents," says Yisroel Eisenbach, Village of Spring Valley Trustee. "We know it wasn't always the most convenient for everyone, and for that, we apologize, but in the end, it has all been worth it, and we are happy to have been able to complete the road repaving project at long last."
