Governor Murphy Vetoes N.J. Turnpike Authority Planned Toll Increase

by M.C. Millman

Last week, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy vetoed the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's 2024 $2.6 billion budget with its planned 3% New Jersey Turnpike toll increase, as reported by Rockland Daily here

"After considering the issue, I have decided to veto the NJ Turnpike's proposed budget passed earlier this week," the governor stated on X. "I am not satisfied with the justification provided for the toll increases reflected in the budget and need more information for why the board is taking this step."

The veto came after the authority board members voted 6-0 to approve the budget on Tuesday, October 24

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority operates the Garden State Parkway and the Turnpike.
