Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick was honored earlier this week for being the first public official to stand up in support of the #EndJewHatred movement when he proclaimed #EndJewHatred Day in his district.

On April 29, 2022, the Senator presented the proclamation from the New York State Senate at The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education in Suffern, a partner in the #EndJewHatred initiative.

The Senator received the honor at a New York City ceremony by a coalition of prominent Jewish organizations that comprise the #EndJewHatred movement.

“More than eighty years after the Holocaust began, influential voices in our society are still spewing vile antisemitic hate speech which perpetuates the cycle of violence against Jews," Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said during the ceremony. "This cannot stand. As a Senator who represents Rockland County, which has a higher per capita Jewish population than any county in the nation, I am dedicated to helping build a world where everyone can feel safe regardless of their religion, race, or ethnicity, and no one should be the victim of a violent attack.”

Brooke Goldstein, co-founder of #EndJewHatred, lauded Senator Reichlin-Melnick for being the first public official to take decisive action in the #EndJewHatred movement, which is a grassroots, nonpartisan civil rights organization with the singular mission to eradicate hatred of Jews.

"Yesterday, I attended an event in New York City recognizing the #EndJewHatred movement to combat anti-Semitism," the senator posted on social media. "The event was put together to recognize the work that we did in passing a resolution on the floor of the Assembly earlier this year to highlight the movement. In addition, I’m proud of the work I have done opposing the BDS movement, ensuring the Holocaust is taught in our schools, and opposing efforts on college campuses to silence pro-Israel voices. As we move forward, we need to speak with one voice in opposition to anti-Semitism and the hate crimes that are often associated with it."
