Rockland's Division of Environmental Resources Addresses Spotted Lanternfly Invasion in County Parks

To address the Spotted Lanternfly infestations plaguing Rockland County parks, the Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources has been working to remove the invasive insect with a vacuum.
The NYS Department of Agriculture Markets has confirmed that the Spotted Lanternfly is an invasive insect and poses a severe threat to our environment, as reported by Rockland Daily here.
Upon sighting a Spotted Lanternfly, Cornell Cooperative Extension recommends physically trapping and killing the bug, as reported by Rockland Daily here.
The invasive pest targets the ailanthus trees and attacks a wide variety of crops, including grapes, hops, apples, and forest products.
