Rockland Jewish Alliance Hosts Round Table With County Legislative Candidates

By M.C. Millman

Rockland Jewish Alliance and community activists met last night with Republican candidates for the Rockland County Legislature, which has elections coming up on November 7.

Many issues were discussed at great length, including safety and security; making Rockland County more business-friendly; attracting new businesses; infrastructure; and installing sidewalks throughout the County.

The round table discussion was attended by the County Minority Leader and Legislator Lon M. Hofstein, District 5, which includes New City; Ariel Dahan, a candidate for District 12, which includes parts of Airmont, Suffern and Montebello; Avrohom Yankelewitz, candidate for District 7; which includes Wesley Hills and parts of Monsey;  Ronny Diz, a candidate for District 2, which includes Thiells, Garnerville and Pomona.  Also in attendance was Deputy Mayor of Pomona Mendy Lasker, and Deputy Mayor of Chestnut Ridge Chaim Rose.

Last night’s roundtable discussion comes after the Rockland Jewish Alliance and community activists hosted a successful meeting last week with the Democratic candidates and Legislators from the County.

Attendees at last week’s roundtable meeting included Rockland County Legislators, including Legislator Aney Paul, District 14; Legislator Tony Earl, District 8; Beth Davidson, who is running for District 10, Dana Stilley, who is running for District 17  David Bruen, who is running for District 11; and Jessi Malowitz, who is running for District 12.

This is the 2nd of a series of meetings that will take place in the future to bridge communities across the County and to foster better relationships with elected officials and community activists.
