Rockland County households ranked fifth among the highest earners in New York state in 2019, according to income data compiled from the US Census Bureau.

Although the Covid pandemic that hit in early 2020 drastically altered income and poverty levels, in 2019, five counties in Hudson Valley were among the top ten top earners out of the 57 counties statewide in a list created by Stacker.com.

Rocklanders, who earn a median household income of $93,024, stand 35.8% above the state median and 48% higher the U.S. median, Patch.com reported.

While 47% of households in Rockland earned more than $100,000 a year in 2019, only 6.6% earned less than $15,000, a year.

Number One on Stacker’s list was Nassau County on Long Island, where households brought in $118,453 on average, however, Putnam, Westchester, and Rockland Counties, which ranked, second, fourth, and fifth, respectively, beat out every borough in New York City.

Manhattan County, for instance, was ranked as being the sixth-highest earners in New York state.

NYC’s outer boroughs were sprinkled throughout the list: with Staten Island, coming in eighth, Queens ranking twelfth, Brooklyn coming in at 24 and the Bronx not even making the top 50.

Back in Hudson Valley, Dutchess County also ranked among the list’s top ten at number nine: with a median household income of $81,219, which is 18.6% above the state median and 29.2% higher than the U.S. median.

In Dutchess County, 40.4% of households earned over $100k, while 7.9% earned less than $15,000.

Orange County ranked at 10 on the list, with a median household income of $79,944, which is 16.7% above the New York state median and 27.2% above the U.S. median.

In Orange County, 39.8% of households earned more than $100,000, while 8.2% earned less than $15,000.
