Pearl River Resident Arrested for Illegal Weapon Possession

by Rockland Daily Staff

Timothy Lewis, a 42-year-old Rockland County resident, was arrested after illegal weapons were found in his home.

According to Sheriff Louis Falco, the arrest involved a multi-agency investigation by his department, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Orangetown Police Department.

A firearm-sniffing dog uncovered a secret cache of illegal weapons at Lewis's home. The search revealed numerous weapons, including untraceable "ghost guns," which can be purchased online and assembled by the buyer, and multiple weapon silencers. Authorities seized the weapons.

"This arrest is a perfect example of the success of the RCIC having good working relationships with our local law enforcement and Federal partners," Falco said. "Additionally, a special thanks to the NYPD Strategic Intelligence Unit, RCSO BCI, Crime Scene Unit, the K9 Team of PO Mercurio and K9 Ott, and the Rockland County DA's Office for their involvement in this case."

Lewis was arraigned and sent to the Rockland County jail. He faces many charges, including one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, nine counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fifth degree.

Lewis also faces federal charges in addition to the NYS charges.

According to Falco, the ATF is currently pursuing federal charges.
