Monsey’s Retail Center Breaks Ground for Massive Expansion Project

Rockland Kosher and Shopper’s Haven is coming up on two decades as one of Monsey’s largest supermarkets, located on Orchard Street in the heart of old Monsey.

Despite their already enormous parking lot, a growing Monsey community demands an expanded shopping space.

Today, the retail giant broke ground on a massive two-phase project which will bring thousands of additional square footage of shopping space, as well as hundreds of additional parking spaces—on a three-level parking lot—to accommodate the shoppers.

Phase one will bring an addition to the building, on the Main Street side, as well as the three-level parking garage, with hundreds of spaces. It will also feature a bridge from the parking garage into the mall. The second phase will bring an additional three floors attached to the mall.

“Every existing establishment in the mall—including Rockland Kosher—will receive additional space,” said an insider familiar with the project. “While we have had many requests for new stores to come into the mall, we are unable to commit at this time.”
