Gov. Hochul Provides More than $6 million to Clean Up Rockland County’s Water

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced today that as part of her efforts to upgrade and modernize New York’s clean water systems, Rockland County would be receiving two state grants of $2,875,000 and $3,375,000 grants to upgrade pump stations, improve heating and ventilation systems, and replace odor control systems.

New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation's Board of Directors approved more than $66 million to provide grants statewide to improve the drinking water and wastewater systems in 16 regions in New York state.

"Clean water is one of the most important things for a community, and by providing resources to invest in critical water projects, we can bolster public health and quality of life throughout our state," Gov. Hochul said. "This funding will help local governments to make critical upgrades to protect water quality for New Yorkers for generations. With these projects, we can lay the foundation for growth and economic development by providing critical necessities for water."

Communities across New York State have been making great strides to replace outdated drinking water delivery systems and modernize sewage treatment plants to sustain the health of both residents and the environment, explained New York Health Commissioner Mary Bassett, MD, MPH.

"Access to clean drinking water and helping municipalities to attain it is a clear priority of this administration as we continue to make funding available for these vital projects," Dr. Bassett said about the funding that will be provided by the state’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund, Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and grants that resulted from the state’s Water Infrastructure Improvement Act.
