Fatal Car Crash on Palisades Parkway is Under Investigation

A fatal, single-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley is being investigated by the state police.

It happened around 11:20 am on Saturday, March 12 in Rockland County on the Palisades Parkway.

Jyung Hahn, age 46 from Cresskill, NJ, was driving a 2020 Tesla north on the PIP near exit 10 when he lost control of the vehicle, possibly due to weather conditions, and struck a tree off the highway.

Hahn, the sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The firefighters arrived to a car engulfed in flames, Nanuet fire officials said. They described the heart of the blaze as a "thermal runaway" reaction by Tesla's lithium-ion battery.

State Police are asking anyone who may have been a witness to the crash or observed the vehicle before the crash to contact Investigator Eric Haydt at the Haverstraw Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at 845-364-9424. The vehicle is a white Tesla with New Jersey plates that was traveling North on the parkway.
