Drunk Driver Crashes into New City Home

A drunk driver who had no license crashed into a New City home.

Jonathan Barnes, the 37-year-old driver, is a resident of West Nyack. Barnes first drove through two fences before crashing into the home at 12:50 a.m. on Friday night at 9 Carnaby Court in New City. 

Upon arrival, Clarkstown police officers noted a white Infiniti SUV partially lodged in the lower level of the house. The SUV's tires were off the ground and still turning as the officers approached to assess the scene. 

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, had to be extricated by emergency personnel through the rear window of the SUV. 

The home's occupant told police that he had to climb over the hood of the SUV to escape after the car came crashing through while he was asleep in bed. No serious injuries were reported. 

The driver was charged with DWI with a previous conviction, aggravated unlicensed operator, DWI, circumventing motor vehicle interlock device, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and also had several traffic summonses. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and released pending a future court appearance.
