Delivery Driver Arrested for Intentionally Backing Car Into Victim

By Mindy Cohn

The Ramapo Police Department responded on Thursday, April 4, to Old Nyack Turnpike in Monsey for the report of a delivery driver who had intentionally backed his car into a homeowner after arriving to make a food delivery.

The victim reported to the Ramapo Police Department that he had ordered food through an online food delivery service but had accidentally entered the wrong address. The delivery driver expressed outrage at his wasted time when he arrived and also allegedly utilized antisemitic language toward the customer. At this point, the customer went to the rear of the car to take a picture of the driver's license plate, whereupon the driver placed the vehicle in reverse and intentionally struck the victim.

When the Ramapo Police Department arrived, they found the victim with minor injuries. The driver had already fled the scene, and the victim refused medical attention.

A police investigation ensued regarding the incident, and Ramapo police detectives were able to identify the suspect and his vehicle.

Wensley Volcy, a 32-year-old male from Spring Valley, was located and arrested for the incident on Friday, April 5.  Voicy was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court, where bail was set at $5,000 and turned over to the Rockland County Jail pending future court appearances.
