Clarkstown Police Make Arrest After Attempted Bank Fraud in Nanuet
by Mindy Cohn

Hanlin Yang of Virginia was arrested by Clarkstown police last week after attempting to transfer $45,000 from a bank account that did not belong to him.

The 34-year-old was charged with grand larceny after attempting to withdraw the funds from Affinity Federal Credit Union in Nanuet using a fake ID.

According to police, Yang and a woman he was with became agitated when bank officials attempted to verify the identification they were using. They then left the bank.

Yang was arrested shortly after that, but his accomplice is still on the run and caused a lockdown at Bardonia Elementary during her escape.

Following the incident, the thirty-four-year-old was released on his own recognizance. However, his freedom was short-lived as he was promptly handed over to the New York City Police Department, who had a warrant out for his arrest.
