Assembly Redistricting Map Signed Into Law Giving Rockland an Additional Assembly Seat

Governor Kathy Hochul signed the new assembly maps into law during the revised redistricting process late yesterday following a State ordered redo of the assembly maps last year.

The new maps are mostly the same as those previously in effect.

The new maps create the opportunity for Rockland to send an additional Assemblyman to Albany for the 97th Assembly District, a position it was rumored last year that Rockland County Legislator was thinking about running for.

"I did look into running last year and have been urged to run for this seat next year," Legislator Wieder shares with Rockland Daily when asked to comment. "At the moment, though, I am focused on running for reelection for County Legislator right now."
