“I began doing payroll for companies in my spare time during my Kollel years,” Mr. Reich recalls from his office on Kent Avenue. “Slowly but surely, we built this into a business of twenty employees which processes the payroll of thousands of satisfied employees.” The company has grown over the years, and is now in the stages of opening a second office in Monsey. 

Citi Payroll began as a favor to someone who became a client. “A friend of mine, knowing of my lifelong love for numbers, approached me, asking if I could take care of his company’s payroll needs,” he recalls. “And the rest is history; I became enamored with the field, and baruch Hashem built it into what it is today.” 

Reich explains the function of a payroll company. “When a client retains our services, we take care of all the tax considerations, report filings, workers comp, and many other details that go into a payroll. The client does not need to be busy with any of that. For this we charge a small fee, and we take on the burden of all these processing details. We also work hand-in-hand with the company’s accounting department, ensuring that they have access to all our reports in an organized manner,” he says. 

One doesn’t need to be a big business in order to benefit from a payroll processing company’s services. “We work with companies who have one employee, to companies with thousands of employees—and we give the same attention and service to each,” Reb Shaul says. “Even a small company is obligated by law to comply with all the payroll-related laws, so it’s a matter of convenience, but can also save many headaches down the line.” 

As someone with a front-row seat to the payroll process in the heimishe economy, Mr. Reich says that employees in this community can make impressive salaries. “Many companies are paying some of their talented employees very nice salaries,” he reports. “One can definitely get very far in this business climate.”
