911 Reaches Out to Chaverim of Rockland's Search and Rescue Division for Assistance
By M.C. Millman
Yesterday, Chaverim of Rockland's dispatch center received a call from a 9-1-1 operator regarding a hiker injured at Kakiat County Park.
Although Rockland County Sheriff's officers and Spring Hill EMS were already at the scene, a specialized evacuation stretcher and extra manpower were needed to bring the patient down to the ambulance waiting in the parking lot.
Chaverim's search and rescue volunteers, who train regularly on Kakiat County Park trails, were at the scene a short time later. Utilizing the stretcher that they have for purposes just like this, the volunteers were able to carry the patient back down to safety and for transport to Good Samaritan Hospital.
