Additional fruit and vegetable benefits are available until March 31: for parents who are enrolled in WIC programs, the Rockland County Department of Health posted on Twitter.

For participants with children: an additional $24 a month is available, for pregnant and postpartum participants: an additional $43 a month, and for participants who are nursing: an extra $47 a month is at hand.

In addition to fruits and vegetables, WIC provides milk, cheese, cereals, peanut butter, beans, grains, and more. WIC also offers classes and support for nursing mothers and nutrition education.

Women who are expecting, mom, dads, foster parents, step-parents, guardians, and grandparents are all eligible for WIC support.

“Caregivers with low to medium incomes and those who are part of other programs such as foster care, medical assistance, or SNAP are eligible,” WIC’s website says.

Readers can contact the Rockland County - Haverstraw WIC at (845) 429-5525 or at http://signupwic.com to be enrolled.
