Village of Nyack Receives Grant Funding for Every New EV in the Village

by Mindy Cohn

Any purchase of a 100% electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle registered in the Village of Nyack after November 7 of this year will go towards Nyack’s campaign goal of 70 new electric vehicle purchases.

If the goal is met, the village will be eligible for up to $27,500 in grant funds for clean energy projects through NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities program.

This month, the village hit its first target of five new electric vehicles for a grant of $5,000.

The village set up a Nyack Drive Electric volunteer team (including local EV owners) who are ready and willing to help residents find a make and model that fits their price range and mileage range while providing resources on cost saving and incentives including:

  • NYS Rebates of up to $2,000.
  • Federal IRA tax credit of $7,500.
  • Green EZ-Pass - 10% discount on tolls.
  • Savings on fuel & maintenance costs.
  • Convenient home charging.
