By Rockland Daily Staff

Update: January 23

Police reported that the car that rolled off the Piermont Pier last week was finally located in the water as of Thursday, January 18.
While the car will not be retrieved anytime soon due to the tide and the weather, Haverstraw police report that there was nothing and no one inside the car.

Yesterday, at approximately 2 p.m., the Piermont Police Department responded to Ferry Road for a report of damage to the dock on the pier.

According to a press release from the Piermont Police Department, officers observed vehicle tire marks in the snow that traveled to the end of the dock. Upon further investigation, some vehicle parts were located near the damaged area of the dock.

Subsequently, video footage was obtained showing a vehicle entering the docking area of the pier and the driver exiting the vehicle. The vehicle then drove off the end of the dock into the Hudson River.

This is an ongoing investigation involving the Piermont Police Department Detective Unit, assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should call the Piermont Detective Unit at 845-359-0240.
