By Rockland Daily Staff

Update - March 12, 2024 - 9:43 a.m.

At 6 a.m. today, Orange and Rockland Utilities reported that approximately 1,152 customers remain out of service due to storm damage; 66 of those customers are in Rockland County.

The customers in Rockland County who remain without power are in three locations including Ramapo, where twenty homes and businesses are still waiting to be reconnected. Haverstraw has twenty-eight without power, and Orangetown has four.

O&R expects to restore power to nearly all customers affected by the storm by 11 p.m. today. Customers who have no power due to structural damage to their buildings or to their buildings’ internal electric equipment will have a longer delay.

Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) emergency response crews continued to work throughout the night to repair damage and restore power outages caused by the strong wind gusts that slammed Rockland County today.

Over 18,000 O&R customers had their power knocked out by the windstorm at one point or another. By nightfall Monday, 16,000 customers had their power restored, and only 2,900 customers remained without power as of 10:15 p.m. In Rockland County, that number was even smaller, as 335 households remained without power: 135 in Ramapo, 97 in Spring Valley, and 29 in Haverstraw.
