The Jewish Federation Holds Rockland Security Briefing

by M.C. Millman

The Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County's new Rockland Security Initiative held a security briefing for Jewish institutions, law enforcement, and local officials last Thursday.

The briefing was to create awareness of the current threat environment to Jewish institutions based on the most recent Department of Homeland Security bulletins.

Attendees included District Attorney Tom Walsh, Legislator Aron Wieder, Rabbi Yosef Golding, Executive Director of Hatzoloh, and the Ramapo and Clarkstown Police Departments, among others.

The informative meeting included a detailed report from the JFF CSI Threat Intelligence Analyst and Jewish Federation Director of Security Ethan Ehrlich and included an overview of recent threats as well as where to seek guidance in the current environment.

"Hatzoloh of Rockland stands behind the efforts of the Jewish Federation's new Rockland Security Initiative to help ensure the security of our shuls and institutions in Rockland County," Rabbi Yosef Golding shares with Rockland Daily. "In this age of rampant social media's spewing of hate, we see more and more open anti-Semitism rising everywhere. This past week's Parsha of "Eisav Sonai L'Yaakov" is, unfortunately, staring us in the face.

"Hatzoloh's Operations Committee has offered its cooperation in regard to Stop the Bleed courses and has participated, together with Chaverim, in active shooter training sessions; we should never need it!"

"Tremendous thanks goes to the Jewish Federation for taking the initiative to keep our community safe with initiatives like this one," Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder tells Rockland Daily. "It's terrible that it has come to a time where something like this is so needed. But we appreciate having them step up to the plate along with County law enforcement, who are always here for us as they work to keep us safe as well."
