Michael Careswell, Suffern Police Department officer, graduated from the Firearms Instructor Course at the Rockland County Police Academy on Friday, April 21.

In order to become a Firearms Instructor, an officer is also required to complete an equally challenging course, the Instructor Development Course.

Officer Careswell is a US Army Veteran who served with distinction in Iraq, resulting in his receipt of the Combat Infantryman Badge. He came to the Village of Suffern Police Department after serving in the Amtrak Police Department.

Going forward, Officer Careswell will be the Suffern Police Department’s lead Firearms Instructor.
