Spring Valley Officials Meet to Arrange for Serefus Chometz Traffic Flow in the Village

By M. C. Millman

Village of Spring Valley elected officials, the chief deputy chief, lieutenants, and the administrative sergeant met this afternoon, Tuesday, April 9, to hammer out a viable traffic plan for the annual serefus chometz event.

The final traffic flow map, which will be shared with Rockland Daily closer to Pesach, will include an amended traffic flow plan and parking suggestions to facilitate a smooth process for the serefus chometz at Memorial Park.

"Last year, I saw what a disaster the whole process was with people being unable to enter and exit the park costing valuable minutes," Village of Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach shares with Rockland Daily. "I promised myself then that I would do something this year if we are not in Eretz Yisroel, and here I am, working out a plan for the community in order to help the community and to keep my promise."

“We hope and believe that since we’re implementing a new traffic pattern designed especially for serefus chometz, the whole experience will be much smoother," says Spring Valley Village Trustee Asher Grossman. "In addition, we’d like to remind everyone that there’s a large parking lot available on Memorial Park Drive, and you can just walk over from there to the burning site. An easier Srefas Chometz experience will bring a calmer Erev Yom Tov!”

The deputy mayor suggested that people should not wait until the last minute to arrive at the park to burn their chometz.

Paying attention to those directing traffic and exercising patience while waiting to enter or exit will prevent gridlock at the park.
