UPDATE: Severe Weather and Flash Flood Warnings Throughout Rockland County With Multiple Roadways Closed Due to Flooding

Lowland Hill Park in Stony Point is completely flooded with crews from the Stony Point Fire Department and the Piermont Fire Department High Angle Rescue Team, HART, currently at the scene working to rescue several people stuck in the park and in the homes due to the flooding. Many cars are almost completely underwater as well.

Update: 5:30 p.m.

State Route 9W and Palisades Interstate Parkway are experiencing heavy flooding and washouts. The Palisades Northboud is closed from Exit 14 to Long Mountain Traffic Circle. The area should be avoided.

As heavy downpours have continued throughout the day, the National Weather Service has released a flash flood warning for Rockland County, which is in effect until 5:45 tonight. 

Residents are asked not to travel unless they are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Numerous roads are shut down, including parts of the Palisades Parkway, with the roadway completely washed away in some places and rock slides in others. The Palisades is also closed at Exit 15 Northbound and Exit 19 due to two feet of water on the roadway.

There has been a report of a NYS trooper and a driver trapped in flood water on Route 9W in Stony Point, where the roadway washed away. 

The Town of Ramapo's Emergency Hotline has been activated for non-emergency assistance as calls continue to flood into emergency services, including a few calls for missing hikers and a water rescue on the Appalachian Trail near Perkins Memorial Drive for two people in the water.
