Rockland Police Participate in NYS Speed Awareness Week
by M. C. Millman
Rockland police departments are participating in NYS Speed Awareness Week.
The high-visibility mobilization campaign is aimed at reducing speed-related crashes. The campaign runs through Friday, August 21.
Rockland drivers have already noted police out in force.
"This is seriously in effect," one Rockland driver reported this morning. "I drove on the Palisades, and there were police officers all over the place."
According to The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee of New York, in 2021, over one-third of traffic fatalities in NYS were caused by speeding. Speeding endangers not only the life of the speeder but all people on the road around them.
