Rockland County CEO of AMA Pleads Guilty to Fraud

By: Rockland Daily Staff

The FBI and the Rockland County District Attorney announced, that Gabriel Litizia, the CEO of AMA Laboratories, was sentenced to 60 months in prison for defrauding clients more than $46,000, 000 in false results and tests.

AMA Laboratories would test the consumer safety of products such as sunscreens and cosmetics. They were ostensible to test the products on a proper sampling of people in order to determine their safety. However, investigators found, that they tested on far fewer than they said. Typically, their clients requested for them to test on 50 people, while AMA would only test on 20.

Investigators also found that AMA falsified test results to minimize adverse outcomes from products.

Letizia pled guilty in front of a judge in White Plains, and in addition to his prison sentence, he must forfeit $46,000,000 derived from the fraudulent tests.
