Minnow Giveway Postponed by Rockland Health Department

By M. C. Millman

The annual fathead minnow giveaway, previously scheduled for this Wednesday, May 8, has been postponed. The new date is Wednesday, May 22, from 4:30- 6 p.m. at the Robert L. Yeager Health Complex, located at 50 Sanatorium Road in Pomona.
Fathead minnows are small fish that eat mosquito larvae before they become flying, biting adults. They can eat up to 200 mosquito larvae per day. These minnows can be placed in ponds, unused swimming pools, ornamental ponds, and other similar areas with a minimum of eight inches of water.
Those who have already placed an order do not have to renew their order. New orders can still be placed by emailing [email protected] to receive a printable order form. Residents can also call 845-364-3173.
