Mayor Marshall Katz Warns: Keep Your Possessions Safe

Mayor Marshall Katz Warns: Keep Your Possessions Safe

By M. C. Millman

Several cases of stolen vehicles and stolen items from vehicles have been reported to Ramapo Police recently. In all of the incidents this week, vehicle owners left key fobs inside the car or left the car unlocked.

Mayor Marshall Katz is warning Welsey Hills residents to “Please safeguard your possessions by keeping your cars locked when they are outside of your homes and not leaving valuables in your cars.”

This warning applies to surrounding areas as well. According to Mayor Katz,  “Crime can happen anywhere, especially crimes of opportunity where the crime can be committed without much effort on the part of the criminal.”

Low-crime areas make it easy to be lulled into a sense of false security. Be alert and keep your possessions safe.
