Masks Mandates Return for Rockland County Hospital Emergency Departments

Masks Mandates Return for Rockland County Hospital Emergency Departments

By Rockland Daily Staff

Masks have been reinstated and are required at local hospital emergency departments due to the annual seasonal increase in respiratory illnesses.

The mandate is in effect at Westchester Medical Center, MidHudson Regional Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospital. It directly results from the New York State Department of Health's recent recommendations for health care and residential facilities.

Going forward, masks are required for all visitors and workforce members in patient rooms and clinical areas of the emergency departments where patients may be encountered. A similar mask mandate was reinstated in New York City hospitals, as well as reported by Rockland Daily here.

Westchester Medical Center says that in addition to the mask requirement in the emergency department,  the use of facemasks is strongly encouraged in all other hospital areas and requests that those with COVID, RSV, or flu-like symptoms shouldn’t enter the facility.
