Jawonio Awarded $2.2 Million Dollars from NYS for Health Care Facility Transformation Program
By Rockland Daily Staff
Jawonio announced this morning that they have been awarded $2.2 million from New York State for a Health Care Facility Transformation Program.
Jawonio is a registered 501C3 organization organized in 1947 as the Cerebral Palsy Society of Rockland County, providing outpatient treatment for individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and chronic medical conditions.
The funds, awarded to 127 projects state-wide to improve the lives of the most vulnerable, are slated to be used for a new behavioral health center in Rockland County. The new 8000-square foot program space for Jawonio's Personalized Recovery Oriented Services program will benefit people with behavioral health challenges, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, substance abuse, and those dually diagnosed, including those with developmental disability and mental health diagnoses.
These funds come hard on the heels of the completion of a $20 million renovation project completed in July as reported by Rockland Daily here.
