Construction Closes I-87's Left Lane Monday Night

The New York State Thruway Authority announced that the Left lane on the northbound Thruway near exit 13 will be closed from 10 pm Monday until 8 am Tuesday due to prep work for an overhead sign installation.

Two northbound lanes of traffic will remain open Tuesday morning but motorists should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.

Construction activities throughout the week will require the overnight closure of lanes in both directions near exit 13. 

For up-to-date travel information, motorists are encouraged to download the Thruway’s mobile app and view the Travelers Map on the Thruway Authority’s website.

“Drivers are urged to be alert and follow the posted work zone speed limits. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone,” the Thruway Authority reminded. 

“In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.”
