Cold and Snow to Descend on the Rockland Areas Overnight

Although we have already experienced some accumulation this winter, we expect the first serious snow of winter 5782 overnight Thursday into Friday morning. We expect 2-3 inches, up to 4-5 inches of accumulation in some areas, making the morning commute difficult.

Snow will begin to fall around midnight, and given the frigid temperatures—in the low 20’s—the snow will be powdery, and it will stick to the ground, making for treacherous road conditions.

As the snow phases out around 9 a.m., the wind comes in, and the cold remains, and there will not be much melting on Friday. It will remain cold and sunny over Shabbos.

In the effort to ensure a smooth snow removal, Ramapo Police Department have put out the following statement: “RPD reminds our residents that we will be strictly enforcing all overnight parking regulations. Any vehicle that is left on the street & determined to be hindering snow removal operations may be towed at the owner’s expense. Please park cars off the roadways.”

Monsey Trails have altered their schedules and cancelled all Manhattan-bound routes in anticipation of the inclement weather.
