ASHAR Eighth Graders Host Annual Names Not Numbers Documentary Screening

ASHAR's annual reception and screening of  Names, Not Numbers: A Movie in the Making, produced by members of the Class of 2023, took place on Sunday evening, May 14. 

The documentary is the culmination of the  ASHAR's acclaimed Names, Not Numbers program. It is a result of a yearlong Holocaust Studies living history curriculum program, which requires extensive research into the time and location of each Holocaust survivor interviewed. The eighth graders filmed and interviewed each survivor on their own. They then edited the resulting production n order to create a professional-grade documentary made up of the combined stories. The finished documentary was shown to the community at a special screening on Sunday night.

The unique and memorable oral history project bequeaths the personal memories, stories, and lessons of the Holocaust to the students and their audience.
