Two More Haverstraw Men Arrested After Murder of Spring Valley Youth

After an investigation of hundreds of hours led to a single arrest on July 21, an additional two men were arrested on Thursday for multiple felonies stemming from the July 8 murder of a Spring Valley teen.

Anthony Mitchell, 23 of Haverstraw, Ahmad Williams, 21 of Haverstraw, and Brian Thomas, 20 of Haverstraw, were all charged with Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

The victim was 17-year-old Treynahel Cineus. He was a Spring Valley resident heading into his senior year at Ramapo High School.

District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, "The senseless killing of a high school student with such a bright future ahead of him has left our community shocked and in anger. As a father, no parent should ever have to bury their own child.

All three defendants were remanded to Rockland County Jail. They will return to court on August 17 before the Honorable Judge Kevin Russo.

The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Nabeela McLeod and Senior Assistant District Attorney Matthew Martinez.
