West Maple Farm Puts Up Greenhouse in Preparation for Spring

Although West Maple Farm might appear to be closed for the winter, plenty of work is still getting done to prepare for spring, including putting up new greenhouses.

“Last year, we grew all of our nearly 4,000 seedlings inside the barns, “ Zev Oster, proprietor of West Maple Farm, shares with Rockland Daily. “However, we’re planning to do it all inside greenhouses this year.”

The newest greenhouse, which measures fifty feet by twelve feet, has enough room to sprout 2,000 seedlings over the winter. The tomatoes, cucumbers, and green and yellow zucchini seedlings will be ready for spring planting.

“Next year, we are planning to have a Pick Your Own Flowers for Shabbos opportunity,” says Oster. “So, we are also putting up an additional twenty-eight by the fifty-foot greenhouse in the next few weeks with room for thousands more seedlings.”
