Weekly Weather: Remnants of Ian Part II Continue to Bring us Wind and Rain

By: Yaker Biegeleisen

Hurricane Ian has pummeled the East Coast, and we are expecting to feel the effects of the remnants of the storm over our area for the earlier part of this week.

Part one of the storm has moved out, but we are now getting the remnants of the second part of the storm. The system remains trapped over our area due to a high pressure system to the north which is not allowing the storm to leave. We are  therefore going to get some rain, and quite a bit of wind over our area.

This will mean continued cool temperatures, and some rain (not as much as the coastal areas like NYC) and wind on-and-off between Sunday and Tuesday, erev Yom Kippur--until a cold front will push it out to the ocean.

By Wednesday, Yom Kippur, the storm is expected to have cleared out of the area, and it will be replaced with a polar cold front, straight from the arctic (some wind will remain).

This will bring us clear conditions, but unseasonably cold temps for this time of year. As we stand now, we expect a colder than normal Sukkos due to this cold front. Temps for the end of the week will be in the 50's and low 60's during the daytime, and dropping into the low forties at night.
