Weekly Weather: Nor’easter to Impact Tri-State Area First Part of Week

by Yaker Biegeleisen

A powerful storm is taking shape in our area, and the rain that we have had since Sunday night is just the beginning.

A storm brewing off the coast will consolidate into one monster storm, likely leaving Rockland with a few inches of snow when it’s done and much more for areas north and west of the city by the time Wednesday rolls around.

The rain will continue through Monday, but late Monday night, it will turn to snow. While the city is likely to get only a slushy coating to an inch, locally, we will likely get 4-7 inches of snow. (It is still too early to tell whether we will get any real accumulation since the angle of the sun is higher in March.) The snow will come down, heavy at times, through Tuesday evening, and wind gusts will be up to 40 MPH.

This will reduce visibility on the roads, and drivers are urged to exercise caution.

The rest of the week will be mild, with temperatures reaching into the upper forties during the daytime.
