Weekend Power Outtage Continues to Cause Internet Issues in Clarkstown

After a car hit a pole over the weekend in the New City area, blowing the transformer, electricity was restored to the one thousand residents left without power, but internet connection remains an issue.
According to Optimum, Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. completed the pole replacement and turned the site over to internet providers after 7:00 p.m. Sunday night.
Optimum and Verizon Fios assigned extra splicers to the site and worked through the night on rebuilding over 400 feet of a major trunk line in order to get internet service restored as soon as possible. Although no specific restoration time was indicated, progress has been made, and the internet service should be up and running sometime today.
Other storm damage in Clarkstown included a home that was struck by a large tree that fell onto it and another residence that was struck by lightning during the weekend storm, causing damage to every electronic appliance that had been plugged into the house.
