Want to Change Your Political Party? You Have Until 5 p.m. on February 14

Registered voters who have accounts with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) can update their party affiliations online through the DMV’s website: but only until 5 p.m. today.

New Yorkers without DMV accounts can submit their updated paper forms to their local Board of Elections offices until 5 pm on Tuesday, February 14. 

New Yorkers who need to submit completely new voter registration forms have until June 17, 2023. 

Voters may want to change their party affiliations because voters are only allowed to vote in primaries of the party for which they are registered.
