Veteran's Park in Orangetown Recieves $375,000 Funding to Upgrade

By M. C. Millman

Veterans Park in Orangetown was awarded $375,000 in State grant funds to update the park.

The park already boasts soccer and baseball fields, batting cages, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, a fishing pond, and more.

The new funding will go towards a brand new splash pad to keep children cool in the summer and refurbished exercise equipment stations for the adults.

The ceremonial check for $325,000 was presented to Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny by NY State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick.

At the same time, Assemblyman Mike Lawler presented his own ceremonial check for an additional $50,000 to go towards the splash pad, which should be ready for families to use by next summer.
