Veolia Issues Surcharge Notice to Rockland Customers

Veolia Issues Surcharge Notice to Rockland Customers

by Rockland Daily Staff

On August 17, Rockland County declared a stage two water alert, which took effect on August 18 and triggered a new, upcoming "drought rate" in Veolia’s operating tariff.

According to the notice sent by Veolia, the new drought rate will go into effect on September 17 unless the drought alert is rescinded before that time. This will result in a 25% increase in any water usage in Veolia’s highest rate block.

Residential Customers: will be charged an additional $2.98 per CCF for any usage over 12 CCF or $3.99 per 1,000 gallons for any usage over 8,980 gallons of water per month.

Multi-Family Customers: will be charged an additional $1.62 per CCF for any usage over 400 CCF or $2.17 per 1,000 gallons for any usage over 299,200 gallons of water per month.

Non-Residential Customers: will be charged an additional $1.57 per CCF for any usage over 900 CCF or $2.09 per 1,000 gallons for any usage over 673,200 gallons of water per month.

The New York Public Service Commission implemented this conservation rate for Veolia customers to encourage high water users to reduce water consumption. Customers can monitor their daily water usage by creating an account or logging into their account at mywater.veolia.us.
