Vandal Arrested After Damaging Communication Cables to the Tune of $125,000

A communication tower in the Village of Sloatsburg was damaged on Thursday, November 2, after numerous large cables were cut down from the tower by unauthorized individuals.
The damaged cables provided backup communication service for the Rockland County Sheriffs Office, as well as communication cables for Veolia Water and Verizon Wireless.
Damages are estimated to be over $125,000.
The Ramapo Police Investigations Division, assisted by the Rockland County Sheriffs Office and the Rockland County Intelligence Unit worked in partnership to arrest a 30-year-old male from Queens Friday morning. The perpetrator was arraigned before Judge Jefferson on numerous counts and released on his own recognizance for a return to Sloatsburg court on November 15.
