Van Tilts Dangerously on College Road After Becoming Entangled in Electric Wires

By M.C. Millman

A van belonging to Quality Air became trapped in utility wires hanging too low to allow the vehicle safe passage.

The result was that the van became entangled in the Verizon telephone wires to the point that it tilted sharply to one side. The mishap occurred this afternoon on College Road next to Pitaland on the corner of Route 59 across from Chase Bank.

"A vehicle right in front of our van knocked against the wires and caused them to drop down," a Quality Air representative tells Rockland Daily.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene to help extricate the van, including Chaverim of Rockland, the Ramapo Police Department, Suffern Volunteer Hose Co #1, Tallman Fire Department, and Verizon. No one was injured during the incident, and the van was back in service shortly after.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area as there is heavy traffic due to lane closures.
