UPDATE: Traffic Alert: Southbound NYS Thruway Closed Due to Accident

UPDATE 1:59 p.m.

The trailer involved in this morning's accident has been towed from the scene, allowing traffic to slowly return to normal.

UPDATE: 12:17 p.m.

One lane has reopened for traffic in the area on the southbound New York State Thruway after an accident.

The Southbound New York State Thruway is closed due to an accident between exits 15 and 16.

Emergency personnel are at the scene where two people are reportedly trapped in their vehicle and in need of extrication as traffic continues to back up.
