Rockland County is sponsoring a blood drive in an effort to encourage residents to participate in a blood drive held at the Finkelstein Memorial Library at 24 Chestnut Street in Spring Valley on Thursday.

Every 2 seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, according to the American Red Cross statistics. Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S. as it is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. 

The blood drive will take place in the Fielding Room on the third floor of the library on Thursday, February 23 starting at 1:00 p.m. and ending at  6:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 845-352-5700 extension 244 or visit www.finkelsteinlibrary.org/adult-programs.

Those who donate blood during February will receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email. Donors will also automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Clearwater Beach, Florida. The prize will include travel, hotel, gift cards, and more.
